Hymn Festivals - Live Streaming

The Hymn Sosiety in the United States and Canada is holding its annual conference from July 12-16 at St. Olaf College in Northfield Minnesota. Four of this year's conference hymn festivals will be available via streaming video, thanks to the generosity of St. Olaf College.

The four festivals and their times (Eastern Time) are as follows:

Sunday, July 12:  "We Sing Our Story: A Sing for Joy Hymn Festival"--John Ferguson and Bruce Benson, Coordinators; 8:30 p.m.  Magnum Chorum (Christopher Aspaas, Director); Northfield Youth Choir (Elizabeth Shepley and Karen Lutgen, Directors)

Monday, July 13:  "Into the Way of Peace"--Carl P. Daw, Jr., Coordinator; Mark G. Meyer, Organist 8:30 p.m.

Wednesday, July 15:  "Giving Life to the Word: Hymns on Parables"--Tina Schneider, Scott Foxwell, and Adam M. L. Tice, Coordinators; 8:30 p.m. David E. Eicher, Organist

Thursday, July 16:  "Youthful Hearts: Sing to the Lord!"--Paul Westermeyer, Coordinator; David Cherwien, Organist; 11:30 a.m.  Youthful Hearts Choir (Rebekah Schulz, Director)

St. Olaf Broadcast Media will be live streaming each of the hymn festivals from Boe Memorial Chapel on the days and times listed above. They will also make each of those events available "on demand" in an archive after the event. All that is required to view the streams is a computer (PC or Mac) with a broadband Internet connection and a fairly recent version of Adobe Flash software.  Most computers have this in their systems already.

To view the streams, please visit http://stolaf.edu/multimedia. On the right column you will see a list of upcoming events.  When an event is live, there will be a link directly to the stream from that page. You can also view many other events (including archives of daily chapel, St. Olaf Choir concerts and other hymn festivals) from this site.
