Hymn Blog – Introduction
As many of you know, I have a great interest in hymnology, the study of the hymns that are such an important part of our worship life. I am a member of the Hymn Society in the United States and Canada, and have focused on hymnology in my M.T.S. studies at Emmanuel College. My thesis was entitled In Many a Guise: Exploring United Church of Canada Christology in Voices United.
I believe that we can appreciate hymns more and enhance our worship experience if we know a little bit about the hymns we sing, their authors and composers. I am going to blog weekly (most weeks) on the hymns that are part of the service for the following Sunday. I hope that some of you will check the blog periodically, before or after the service, to learn more about the hymnody we use. I would greatly appreciate any feedback you may have about the blog.
