Sharing Our Space
Trinity St. Paul's United Church is a Centre for Faith, Justice and the Arts. This Centre is a building and it is more than a building. The Centre concept builds on our history as a faith community with connection to the arts and to social justice, along with an extension of our practice of sharing space with two other congregations (Bathurst Street United and Christos Metropolitan Community Church) as well as various arts, justice and community groups. The Centre concept invites the congregations of TSP to build new partnerships and collaborations in our building and beyond, and to continue to deepen our theological understanding of what it means to share hospitality.
An Anchor in a World of Change
The Trinity St. Paul's building means different things to different people. An appreciation for the rich Christian heritage the building represents has encouraged the current faith community to adapt to a changing culture while maintaining a Christian presence on Bloor Street. The Trinity-St. Paul's environment is an active and lively place of worship where the congregation seeks to engage contemporary issues of faith and justice. It offers shelter, support and hope for marginalized groups and is an affordable and accessible cultural centre for a wide range of artists and audiences. At Trinity St. Paul's:
- worship activities are encouraged and welcomed, bringing the community together to nurture vision and commitment.
- family and inter-generational relationships are nourished through involvement in congregational and community events in the building.
- a diverse selection of community groups have office and meeting space which is reasonably priced and support by people who share their sense of mission
- a wide range of artists rehearse and perform, including Tafelmusik, a world-renowned baroque orchestra and choir which has made Trinity-St. Paul's its Toronto home for many years
- people living in the area take advantage of opportunities to participate in community-centred events.
- local area businesses such as restaurants, drugstores, grocery stores and other merchants benefit from the spin-off of high volume traffic
