Fourteenth Sunday after Pentecost
We are a faith community that grounds itself in the Christian faith through spiritual practice and theological reflection. We also engage in public witness, take a stand on social justice issues, locally and globally, and deepen our relationship with the arts community, other faith communities, and our neighbours. As well, we gather in worship that nourishes, challenges, embraces diversity, and reflects TSP’s identity as a Centre for Faith, Justice and the Arts.
When: September 22nd, 2019 to June 14th, 2020 (Initial appointment).
Purpose: To provide a safe, consistent nursery environment for our youngest attendees (ages 0-3 years old) during our Sunday morning worship.
Responsibilities: Set up the Sunday morning nursery space, welcome the children and their parents, and provide a safe space for babies and pre-school children (ages 0-3 years old) during worship. Parents may come and go and join depending on the age of the children. Clean up after the service is finished. Interact with parents and other congregants on an occasional basis, answer questions, and take suggestions, etc. (Note: the primary job of liaising with the parents, congregation, and other parties lies with the Children’s Church Coordinator.)
Qualifications: The successful applicant will need experience working with children ages 0-3 years old and ideally be a student working towards an ECE degree or with an ECE degree. The successful application will also be comfortable working in a progressive, inclusive church environment, have a child-centred approach to learning and development, a sensitivity to how children develop and learn at their own pace, and be well-organized, prepared, and responsive.
Accountability: The Nursery caregiver is accountable to the Children’s Church Circle and the Children’s Church Coordinator. There will be mid-term and end-of-term reviews (January and June, 2020), with a view to improving together. All Children’s Church staff and volunteers are required to submit a vulnerable sector police record check.

“Following Jesus: Finding Our Way Home in an Age of Anxiety” is drawn from a series of talks Henri Nouwen gave while on the faculty of Harvard Divinity School.
