Dialogos: The Sultan and the Bird
Dialogos: The Sultan and the Bird
March 18, 2026 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm
Tickets & Info: https://smallworldmusic.com/shows/dialogos-the-sultan-and-the-bird/ Presented by Small World Music and Constantinople
Inspired by the historic encounter between Francis of Assisi and Sultan Malik al-Kâmil, Constantinople joins forces with one of Europe’s most bold and imaginative early music ensembles, Holland Baroque. Amid the turmoil of the Crusades, this unexpected dialogue—marked by mutual respect and attentiveness—became a timeless symbol of peace and understanding.
Blending ancient and contemporary musical traditions from both East and West, the two ensembles bring this spiritual legacy to life through a free and daring musical language. This collaboration transcends borders, celebrates otherness, and invites audiences on an emotional journey where music becomes a bridge between worlds—a celebration of our shared humanity.

A Hymn to Life will tell Gisèle Pelicot’s story in her words, offer solace and hope, and make a positive contribution to changing the conversation around shame and to changing the world.
In 2024, Gisèle Pelicot inspired and moved millions of people with her astonishing courage and dignity as she chose to waive her right to anonymity in her legal fight against her husband and the 50 men accused of her sexual assault. Gisèle Pelicot’s call for shame to change sides in cases of sexual abuse, and the power of the messages she has sent out to the world, have generated an extraordinary public response and moved both women and men all over the world.
On site support will be available in an enclosed room. You will be asked at checkout if you would like a headset for interpretation; this is to help us gauge how many headsets to order for the event.

Tickets & Info: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/weve-got-rhythm-in-1-in-2-in-3-in-4-in-5-in-6-in-ten-tickets-1478854717269?aff=oddtdtcreator Ukrainian culture is as rich and precious as the black Ukrainian soil that earned the country its nickname as “the breadbasket of Europe.” As Russia redraws borders, indiscriminately bombing civilians, schools and hospitals and doing everything in its power to make Ukrainian resilience impossible, we turn to that precious culture. “Sing my songs where evil holds its sway,” wrote Ukrainian poet Lesya Ukrainka and that is exactly what we plan to do, weaving a program that will unite the music of Western and Eastern Ukraine, including Canadian premieres of works by Valentin Bibik, Leonid Desyatnikov, Vladimir Nalyvaiko as well as Ukrainian art and folk songs.
