Toronto City Opera Presents: Orpheus in the Underworld
Toronto City Opera Presents: Orpheus in the Underworld
June 27, 2026 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Trinity-St. Paul's United Church and Centre for Faith, Justice and the Arts, 427 Bloor St W, Toronto, ON M5S 1X7, Canada
Tickets & Info: https://www.tickettailor.com/events/torontocityopera/1833908
Offenbach’s sparkling operetta turns classic myths on their head in a witty, satirical romp through ancient Greek mythology. When Orpheus and Eurydice find themselves unwilling participants in a divine drama, the gods intervene and hijinks ensue. Full of infectious melodies, including the famous “Can-Can,” Orpheus in the Underworld is a fast-paced, irreverent comedy sure to delight.
In a monumental partnership, TCO is thrilled to have the North York Concert Orchestra “in the pit” for this production.
Fully staged opera with orchestra performed in English.
June 27th - Pride Night - TCO Celebrates the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. We encourage audiences to dress up in camp-inspired Greek mythology costume, take photos, and participate in an audience vote to decide who wins “best dressed” of the night. Category is: Greek Myth Cabaret Camp for the Gods!
The “Can-Can”ned food drive will take place at both performances, in support of the Daily Bread Food Bank. Audiences are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to support members of the Toronto Community facing food insecurity.
